The General Pump 100558 compact thermal relief valve threads into a 1/2" female NPT port. It opens at 145°F to dump hot water when the pump runs in bypass, which protects seals and the unloader from heat damage.
Pumps that idle in bypass heat the water quickly. A thermal relief valve is inexpensive protection for your pump packings and valves.
