The Comet 00036-00115 wing nut (G3/4 thread) secures the bypass hose barb on the new-design Comet P40 soft-wash pump's bypass valve.
This part is for the new-design Comet P40 diaphragm pump. The P40 is a common choice for soft-wash rigs, rated around 11 GPM at up to 300 PSI with chemical-resistant wet parts. Check the Comet P40 breakdown sheet to confirm the part and position number for your pump before ordering.
The wing nut lets you open and close the plumbing connection by hand for quick service, without tools that can crack plastic threads. Bleach exposure and repeated tightening can wear or split the nut, which leads to leaks or a connection that loosens under vibration. Hand-tighten only, and replace the matching O-ring when you change the nut.
