Soft Wash Proportioners & Metering Valves

A soft wash proportioner lets you run bleach, surfactant and water through your soft wash pump at a steady mix, instead of batch-mixing a full tank every morning. This page has the proportioners, metering valves, check valves and mixing blocks we use to build and repair proportioning setups, plus the sealants and safety gear that go with them.

Complete proportioners

The Soft Wash Proportioner with 3 CPVC Metering Valves comes in 1/2" to 1" sizes and is ready to plumb between your tanks and your pump. We also carry a proportioner with a block mount. If you're building your own, start with the parts below.

Metering valves

Metering valves set how much of each chemical the pump pulls in. We stock CPVC true-union metering valves in 1/2", 3/4" and 1" NPT, and Asahi/America Type 21A PVC metering valves with FKM (Viton) seals in 1/2" and 1". Use one valve per line (water, bleach, surfactant) so you can dial each one separately.

Check valves and mixing blocks

Check valves keep chemical from flowing back into the wrong tank. Choose our CPVC/poly proportioner check valves (1/2", 3/4" and 1" MNPT) or Banjo 1" poly check valves (CV100 and CV100MT). The poly mixing block brings the lines together. It has 1/2", 3/4" or 1" NPT ports and five pre-drilled holes for mounting to a skid or trailer wall.

Setup tips

Match valve and block sizes to your pump inlet and suction hose so you don't starve the pump. Use chemical-resistant hose and fittings on every port, and seal threads with a sealant made for the job, such as RectorSeal Tru-Blu (also on this page). Flush the whole system with fresh water at the end of the day. When you're mixing SH, wear a chemical spray respirator. We carry one in medium and large, plus replacement cartridges.
